We are photographers living the life in the Black Hills of South Dakota. In the summer of 2013, we decided to put our efforts together (along with some friends of ours) to help other photographers who might be struggling with some of the same things we did in our journey as photographers. We don’t know it all . . . but what we do know . . . we’ll teach you! Here’s a little about each of us.
Jason – In his personal photography with Powerhouse Photo, he focuses on events, seniors, fashion, nature, landscapes, night-scapes and a few special artist projects. Jason is no stranger to lighting. His theatrical and production lighting knowledge and background presents a unique and modern perspective into photography. He’s been called the “local professional assistant” as he’s always willing to help a fellow photographer with lighting and shooting. As a holder of a degree in education, Jason loves to teach and help others learn.
Some would think this is enough for one person, but this is just not true. Jason also owns and operates one of the premier sound and lighting companies in Western South Dakota called PowerHouse Dance DJ’s & Sound Productions. PowerHouse focuses on premier events from weddings to schools and production.
In his personal life he is married to the love of his life, AJ. They together have two high spirited four-legged sons named Gunnar and Bowline.
Amy is a full-time photographer who likes taking images of things that breathe (although she’s beginning to appreciate the occasional night photography adventure). She opened the doors of Legacy Photo and Design in 2006, after spending many years working with kiddos, which has given her a unique way to relate to her littlest subjects. Her business may have started with children’s photography, but it grew into a full-fledged studio specializing in everything from newborns, families, seniors, weddings, and a few others things thrown in for good measure! Prior to starting Legacy she had experience running her own home-based business which has served her well in the world of photography on the business end of things. Add to that, the endless hours and financial resources she’s invested in learning from renowned photographers across the country over the past years, and you’ve got the Amy we see today: a woman with her own style and vision of photography who will do just about anything to get the shot.
Amy is married to Clint and together they have three great kids Ross (16), Eli (13), Evie (9) and two furry pups Tallie and Karlie.
